Story, Beauty, and a World that Means

People are…

…candles hidden in jars,

clay surrounded warmth,

controlled and banked,

exploding with the light of life.

…music locked in strings,

metal taut and cold,

stretched to breaking,

vibrating with God’s song

…stones near a river,

still and unmoving,

memories old as the earth,

taken by raging torrents.

…trees rooted on a boulevard,

gazing on modernity’s advance,

blooming in Spring, covered

in soot by passing cars

…given God’s eyes,

gazing upon creation,

knowing its goodness,

giving life to formless matter
